The weekend of September 4th we participated in the Global Gathering in Estoril, Portugal. This gathering brings together groups from around the world working on the most urgent technology-related challenges affecting human rights, social justice, civil society, and journalism at the local, regional and global levels. On Sunday RABT coalition organized a session to discuss the situation with Autistici Inventati (A/I) and organize solidarity who has been declared global terrorists by the US government on August 26. A/I announced that they are shutting down all the services they host on September 3.

This sanction is part of a long tradition of criminalizing social movements around the world. Autonomous service providers have been attacked in several ways in the past, but this is the first time we have seen a designation that could completely shut us down.

We remain human. We are also deeply upset about the criminalization of a movement-aligned hosting provider. In response, during this session at the Global Gathering, we shared plenty of great ideas, gratitude, and courage to implement those ideas in solidarity with A/I and in support of strengthening autonomous infrastructure.

We are determined to grow the decentralized and autonomous internet and build more infrastructure to continue the struggle against censorship of any kind.

Mutual aid comes with narratives that express the world we want to live in: one in which we can support and include diverse communities and worldviews; one that respects and values all lives; one without impositions, and with places to build together in the present and for the future.

One more time: we are part of social movements, and the digital is not at the center of our struggles but a tool. We remain human. A/I is stopping for now, but “the resistance and the ideas do not stop.” Come along to stay human and RAGE AGAINST BIG TECH.

El fin de semana del 4 de septiembre participamos del encuentro Global Gathering realizado en Estoril, Portugal. Reúne a grupos de todo el mundo que trabajan en los desafíos tecnológicos urgentes que afectan los derechos humanos, la justicia social, la sociedad civil y el periodismo a nivel local, regional y global. El domingo, la coalición RABT organizó una sesión para analizar la situación de la organización Autistici Inventati (A/I) y coordinar acciones de solidaridad, luego de que el 26 de agosto el gobierno de EE. UU. lo declaró como “terrorista global”. A raíz de esto, A/I anunció que cerrará todos los servicios que aloja en el 3 de septiembre.

Esta sanción forma parte de una larga tradición de criminalización de los movimientos sociales en todo el mundo. Los proveedores de servicios autónomos han sido atacados de diversas formas en el pasado, pero es la primera vez que vemos una designación que podría obligarnos a cerrar por completo.

Seguimos siendo humanidad. Nos indigna profundamente la criminalización de un proveedor de infraestructura tecnológica aliada de movimientos sociales. En respuesta, durante la sesión en el Global Gathering, compartimos ideas valiosas, gratitud y la determinación de poner en práctica esas ideas en solidaridad con A/I y en apoyo al fortalecimiento de infraestructuras propias.

Tenemos la determinación de hacer crecer el internet descentralizado y autónomo, y de construir más infraestructura para continuar la lucha frente a cualquier tipo de censura.

La ayuda mutua viene acompañada de narrativas que expresan el mundo en el que queremos vivir: uno en el que podamos apoyar e incluir a comunidades y cosmovisiones diversas; uno que respete y valore todas las vidas; uno sin imposiciones, con espacios para construir juntes en el presente y para el futuro.

Una vez más: formamos parte de movimientos sociales y lo digital no es el centro de nuestras luchas, sino una herramienta más. ¡Mantengámonos humanxs! A/I se detiene por ahora, pero «la resistencia y las ideas no se detienen». Únete para seguir siendo humanidad y LUCHAR CONTRA LAS GRANDES EMPRESAS TECNOLÓGICAS que financian los aparatos de vigilancia y guerra.
